トイレの直訳は「toilet」で、場面によって自然に使います。
Where is the toilet?
The toilet is upstairs.
しかしアメリカ人はそう言われると、便座自体を想像して少しおかしく感じるので、多くのアメリカ人は「bathroom」か「restroom」と言います。
bathroomとrestroomの違い
bathroomの方は日常的ですが、restroomは丁寧です。どちらでも主にアメリカ人が使います。
toiletはヨーロッパの方がよく使います。

下の階はdownstairsです。
