どちらからも始めるわけではないって英語でなんて言うの？

彼女と別れて、別れた後先生にどちらから連絡を取るの？ときかれ、どちらからでもないよ、どちらからもとる感じってのを英語で言いたいです。お願いします。

ーNeither one of us really.  We both contact each other.
「どっちからってわけではない。どちらからも連絡とるよ。」
Neither one of us really. で「どちらからでもないよ」と言えます。
contact で「連絡する」
each other で「お互いに」

ーIt's not as if one of us always calls the other first.  We both call each other.
「どっちかがいつも最初に電話するってわけではない。どちらからも電話するよ。」
It's not as if ... で「…というわけではない」という言い方です。
