Because we didn't know about corona virus, we were really scared of it. Now we know it and what we should react against it better than before. So I think the worst of the pandemic is behind us.

正体がわからないもの、はwhat the don't know/understand (知らないもの、理解できないもの）、もしくはunknown things（未知のもの）で表現出来ます。
