内面についての魅力的って英語でなんて言うの？

ある映画についての話の中で、「自分のアイデンティティと社会のギャップに葛藤する登場人物たちがとても魅力的だった」と話し、その「魅力的」という言葉にattractiveを用いたのですが、あまりそういう使い方をしない、と言われました。こういった場合どういう言葉を用いるのが適切ですか？

こういう場合は普通 interesting を使うと思います。
それか、 fascinating か charming を使えます。
