もし２人の話を聞いてあげていたのなら次のように言うと良いでしょう。
ーI offered them both a listening ear.
to offer someone a listening ear で「人の話を聞いてあげる」

例：
Two people I work with had a difference of opinion about something and their relationship became difficult, so I offered the two of them some advice.
「同僚の２人が意見の違いで気まずくなっていたので、２人の相談に乗ってあげた」
to have a difference of opinion で「意見の相違がある」
