日本語の「試し書き」に当てはまる英語がなかなかないですが、
ペンなどを試すのに使う紙(piece of paper)・便箋(writing pad)、という風に表現できます。
例えば、
Someone wrote something funny on the writing pad for testing pens in the stationery store
文房具店にある試し書きには、面白いものが書いてある
Something funny was written on the piece of paper used for testing pensもOKですね。
