TOEICのpart1でone of the woman is waiting on the table という文章が出てきました。
wait on 人 で人に給仕するという意味やwait on tables で接客するという表現は辞書にありましたが、wait on the table で「特定のテーブルで接客する」という表現は適切で正しいんですか？是非ネイティブの人にお聞きしたいです
One of the women/servers is waiting on that table/on those people.
この文章自体が少し不自然なのですが、one of the woman is waiting on the table は間違っていて、one of と言っているので複数の women にする必要があります。
ーOne of the women is waiting on that table.
「女性の一人があのテーブルを給仕している」
こう言うと、「あのテーブル」と特定のテーブルで接客していることになります。
ーOne of the servers is waiting on those people.
「サーバーの一人があの人たちを給仕している」
このように言った方がより自然です。
