It rather depends what the item is how you explain the degree of wrapping you require for it. You could specify exactly how you would like it wrapped:
"Could you put it in some bubble wrap please?"
Or, you may decide to trust the judgment of the shop assistant and merely request:
"If you could wrap it well for my journey home, that would be great, thanks!"
