「何番目の〜」という言い方が英語にはない、というか希薄なので、この表現を英語ネイティブに課すと「へ？」となることがあります。兄・弟といった序列や順番を表現する語句が使われないのも関連がありそうです。

「ビル・クリントンて何番目の大統領だったっけ？」
答え：He was the 42nd president of the United States.
「第４２代の合衆国大統領です」
シンプルにこれで英語ネイティブに通じればラッキーです。
「何番目〜」という表現がある言語話者にとっては「どうしてわからないの？」ですが、
英語以外の言語を知らない英語ネイティブには、この質問文を英語ネイティブが聞くと、
「大統領に番号なんてあったっけ？」と捉えられてしまう可能性が大いにあります。こういう時は仕方ないですが英語の回り道をしないといけません。
