以上の言葉はどちらでもあっています。意味はほぼ一緒ですが、ニュアンスが少し違います。
Summary
「Summary」の方はよく使われていると思います。
Rundown
「Rundown」の方はカジュアルで、軽い感じがします。
Synopsis
「Synopsis」の方はフォーマルな感じがします。
なので一般的にいうと「Summary」を使います。でも友達同士の場合は「rundown」も自然に使えます。「Synposis」フォーマルな環境だと（レポート、[論文](https://eikaiwa.dmm.com/uknow/questions/51419/)など、プレゼンなど）使います。
「[映画](https://eikaiwa.dmm.com/uknow/questions/36498/)のあらすじを教えて欲しい」の英訳を、言葉それぞれのニュアンスに合わせて訳します。英語で「I want you to ~」というと、少し厳しい感じがあるので、リクエストにしておきました。
Can you tell me the summary of the movie?
Hey, what was the rundown of the movie?
Would you tell me the synopsis of the movie.
「あらすじ」は英語では「summary」か「synopsis」が相当します。「summary」は「[要約](https://eikaiwa.dmm.com/uknow/questions/34863/)」のような意味もあります。
なので、「[映画](https://eikaiwa.dmm.com/uknow/questions/36498/)のあらすじ」は英語で「summary of the movie」か「movie summary」に相当します。
Tom: Hey, what movie do you feel like watching?
ね、どの映画を見たいの？
Mary: I'm not sure, I read all the movie summaries for what is playing at the movie theater. Nothing seemed interesting.
まだ分からない。映画館の映画のあらすじを全部読んだけど、面白いのを見つけなかった。
映画や小説の「あらすじ」は英語で「outline」、「summary」や「synopsis」色んな言い方があります。
だから、
「映画のあらすじを教えて欲しい」は英語で：
「I want you to tell me the outline of the movie」
「I want you to tell me the summary of the movie」
「I want you to tell me the synopsis of the movie」
例文：
「ネットでその映画のあらすじがのせていた」→「There was a synopsis of that movie on the internet」
「映画を見る前によくあらすじを読んじゃう」→「I tend to read the summary of a movie before watching it」
