Make-up is something applied to the face to improve appearance such as coloured powders or creams. These can be applied to the lips (known as lipstick), eyelids (known as eyeshadow or eyeliner), eyelashes (known as mascara) and cheeks (known as blusher).
Creams and lotions intended to make skin smooth or clean can also be called cosmetics and cream that is intended to help prevent dry skin and aging skin is called moisturiser.
"Make-up"（化粧品）とは顔に塗って外観を良く見せるための色付きパウダーやクリームの事ですね。
これらは"lips"（くちびる）に塗る "lipstick"（口紅）、
"eyelids"（瞼）へ "eyeshadow"（アイシャドウ）/ "eyeliner"（アイライナー）、
"eyelashes"（まつ毛）へ "mascara"（マスカラ）
そして"cheeks"（頬）へ塗る "blusher"（頬紅）がありますね。

There are so many individual items on the market that each offer a different type of 'improvement' to the face/body, and they all tend to have their own name depending on what they aim to achieve (eg: moisturiser, skin toner, face repair cream, anti-aging foundation etc..) that collectively we refer to them as either 'beauty products', 'skincare products' or 'cosmetics'.
Beauty and skin care products tend to be more concentrated on the repair and longer term protection/improvement of the face and body (such as cleansers, toners and moisturisers) whereas 'cosmetics' tend to be for instant enhancement and would be make up items such as lipstick, eyeshadow, mascara etc.
