「[掃除](https://eikaiwa.dmm.com/uknow/questions/40278/)」は「clean up」と言います。従って、「① I cleaned up my room today.」は「今日私は部屋を掃除しました」になります。
ちょっと注意を払うべきところは「clean up」と「clean out」の違いです。
「clean-out」は「[大掃除](https://eikaiwa.dmm.com/uknow/questions/20290/)」という意味です。似ているけど、ちょっと違います。例えば、パソコンのハードディスクを「clean-out」する時は、全データを[消去](https://eikaiwa.dmm.com/uknow/questions/76291/)する時を示します。
なので、お部屋の大掃除をした時は「② I cleaned out my room today.」と言います。

You can use any of these statements to answer :-
1. Today I cleaned my room.
今日私は部屋を掃除しました。
2. Nothing special, I just cleaned my room.
This sentence means that you didn't do anything important, just cleaned your room.

この文章は、重要なことは何もしておらず、ただ部屋を掃除したという意味です。
To clean something means that it was dirty. When saying "I cleaned my room" or "All I did today was clean my room!" suggests that it was dirty! Perhaps you took all your washing out and did some dusting (removing all the dust from surfaces)
When you tidy something you put it all back in order. So this would mean that you put everything back in it's place. "I tidied my room" simply means that you put everything back in order.
例：All I did today was clean my room!

「部屋を片付けた。」
部屋をclean（掃除）したということは、その前は部屋がdiry（汚かった）ことも伝わります。
洗えるものは全部洗って、ホコリはキレイになくなっているのかな？
"tidy"（整理整頓する）はあるものを整理するという意味です。
例文の2つ目は、「部屋にあるものを整理整頓した。」という意味です。
"I cleaned up my room" and "I cleaned my room" are both acceptable.
例：I spent the day cleaning up my room.
「一日かけて掃除をしました。」
例：I cleaned my room today.
「今日部屋を掃除しました。」
例：I cleaned up my room today.
「今日部屋を掃除しました。」
このいずれでも通じます。
You can say "I straightened up my room" as another way of saying that you cleaned your room. This is an informal way to say it, but its a common way to express yourself about how you did clean your room. You can still easily just simply say "I cleaned my room" but if you are looking for other ways of saying it then that's an option as well as saying "I tided up my room".

"cleaned my room"（部屋を片付けた）と言いたいとき、例1のように言うことができます。
これはカジュアルな表現ですが、よく使われています。

Both these expressions are explaining that you had "cleaned up" and "cleaned out" these are suggesting that you cleaned. to 'clean out' often refers to cleaning and throwing out old items you have no use for anymore, very similar to a 'spring clean'.
