We use the phrase "heads up" meaning a warning/signal/pre-info that will lift your head and make you look up and pay attention.
"Thanks for letting me know." - This means thanks for telling me about this.

It also implies that you weren't aware of this information before and that you have learnt something new. To make it more informal, you could say 'thanks' instead of 'thank you'. 'Thanks' is better for friends and family.

When you say thank you 'so' 'much' you are in actual fact saying, 'thank you to a great extent, a great deal' for the advice. And when you add, it will come in handy, you are saying that it will turn out to be useful some day. Because you did not have this information previously, you did not know, but, now you know.
'Thanks a million' is usually said informally. When you say this, you are actually saying 'thank you very much' for the information. You may also add 'I really appreciate it'. The adverb 'really' used in the second part of the third statement means 'very' and the verb to 'appreciate' in this context means to recognize the full value of the information.
So, you may say:
