If you would like to know the most common or even the slang ways to say phrases or sentences, "Is that how it is usually used?" or "Is that how a mother tongue would say it?" For expressions or idioms, "is this a common expression?" is a good way to ask if the expression or a certain phrase is used a lot in English. A mother tongue English speaker and a native English speaker is the same thing.
