「＿＿＿を通して」は “through ____” と言います。 “I want to give people the opportunity to understand other societies and cultures through art appreciation.” （芸術鑑賞を通して他の社会や文化を理解する機会を提供したい。） “by enjoying art” も使えると思います。例えば “By enjoying art we have the opportunity to understand other societies and cultures.” （芸術鑑賞を楽しむ事で他の社会や文化を理解する機会を得ます。）
