基本的に質問者様の提案した「more important than」や「takes priority to」でも大丈夫ですが、一番思いつきでシンプルなのは「He prioritizes A over B」だと思います。
使い方としては：
- He prioritizes his family over money
- For him, family is more important than any amount of money
- Family takes priority to money
どちらもとても良いと思います。
"more important than" や "take priority to" はどっちらでも使えると思います。
一つずつ例をあげます。
例）「彼にとっては家庭よりも自分の趣味の方が優先度が高い」
1."For him, he thinks that his own hobby is more important than his family"
2. "for him, he takes more priority in his hobby than his family
両方は正しいだけど、一つ目の方が日常会話でよく使えます。

簡単な比較級を使った文章で言いたいことが伝わると思います。
X と Y を比較する文型は X is more / is less / is as + 形容詞 than / than / as + Y です。
「AよりもB」の場合は英文の A と B の順番が変わります。
Aは「彼の家族」(his family) にし、 B も 「彼の趣味」(his hobbies) にすれば、
