欠片（かけら）って英語でなんて言うの？

欠片は、英語でピースと言います。パズルのピースみたいな感じで覚えるといいかもしれません。 ピースにはたくさん綴り（piece, peaceなど）があるので、注意してくださいね＾＾

I tried to gather the shards of the broken plates in vain. piecesは小さな欠片、shrapnelsは鉄製の小さな破片、shardsは陶器やガラスの鋭い欠片です。小さな欠片でも形や大きさ、質感や素材によって言い方が変わります。 因みにイギリス、ロンドンにはShard（欠片）という名前の高いビルがテムズ川沿いに建てられ観光名所となっています。この建物はガラス製でガラスの割れた三角形の欠片のような形をモデルにデザインされています。

英語では「欠片」は”pieces”や”shards”です。割れたお皿なので”broken pieces”と”shards of glass”の単語を付けます。”broken"は壊れたや割れたという意味です。”shards"は破片という意味なので”shards of glass”はガラスの破片ということです。鋭いものに対して使います。 例 I accidentally dropped the plate and broke it, I picked up the pieces but I couldn’t pick all them up. 間違えてお皿を落として割れてしまいました。欠片を集めたけど全部は拾えなかったです。
