『分からない単語があったら,[その都度](https://eikaiwa.dmm.com/uknow/questions/14574/)』は、whenever you find a word you don't know (知らない単語を見つける度に。youは一般的なことを言う時に使いますが、相手に言い聞かせている感じになります）後半のyou don't knowはyou are not familiar with でもOKです。（こういうと、全く知らないのではなく、馴染みがない、良く覚えていないという感じになります）
ですので、
『私はわからない単語があったら、その都度調べるようにしています』は

Immediately (=直ちに)を入れるとその場で調べている事が伝わります。これがないといつ[調べている](https://eikaiwa.dmm.com/uknow/questions/84924/)のか定かではなくなってしまいますので重要なワードです。

When I come across a word I don't understand, I look it up in the dictionary right away.
If I don't understand a word, I open up the dictionary straight away.
"Right away" and "straight away" are both words used to convey the message that you use the dictionary at the same time that you read the word you don't understand.
"Come across" means that you were reading and then your eyes read a word you don't understand so you "came across" this word.

First you must explain that you are not familiar with the meaning of a word or that the word is new to you: If I don't know a word or When I don't get it or If I don't understand a word. To "get a word" means to "understand". For example: I get it, thanks, means I understand, thanks. In the second part of the sentence you must convey that you search for or look up or find the word in the dictionary. Then you must state right away or immediately or in the moment in order to express that you do not wait to search for the mean but do it immediately.
