「牛乳は」最初は冷蔵庫にあったはずなので、使った後、もとにもどす[put it back]、あるいは、片付ける[put it away]と意訳しました。もし、「残りの牛乳」ということを強調したかったら、[the remaining milk]または[the remain]でいいと思います。
「キャベツを使ったらその都度冷蔵庫に閉まってください、傷むかもしれないから。」
