「〜がする」という決まった言い方はないと思いますが
「音がする」なら I hear ...
「匂いがする」なら I smell ... を使って言うのが良いと思います。
1) I heard a loud noise outside.
「外で大きな音がした。」
there is ... を使っても言えます。
There is a loud noise outside.
2) I smell something in the house.
「家の中で何か匂いがする。」
こちらも there is ... を使って言えます。
There is an odd smell coming from the car.
「車から変な匂いがする。」
