work on で「取り組む」
a few ... と言う場合、２〜３のという意味がありますが、３を意味することが多いです。２の場合は a couple of ...と言えるので。
three lessons ago と正確に言うより、a few lessons ago のように言った方が自然な感じがします。
もし授業が週１なら、a few weeks ago （数週間前）のように言うこともできます。
