The most common way to explain an animal/species that are at risk of being extinct is by calling them an "Endangered species/animal.
When speaking about animals that are on the endangered list there are 3 categories-
vulnerable species- This means that the number of there animal is decreasing/going down very fast and that if the situation is not changed they will become endangered and go instinct.
endangered species- Means that there a few left and they are slowly decreasing to the point where they will become extinct.
Critically endangered species- These animals are on the red list and have a very low number and are at high risk of extinction in a few year.
You can call these animals that are at risk of extinction "endangered species" or "vulnerable" species.
critically endangered - this means to be seriously (critically) in danger of being extinct
endangered - this means to be in danger of being extinct
vulnerable - this means they are at risk of being endangered

These are a species/animals that are slowing being wiped from the earth by hunters and poachers. This means that there are not a lot of this specific animal left on earth and and are therefor endangered and need to be protected.

'Brink' means the very edge of something. So to say that a species is on the 'brink of extinction' is to explain that they are almost about to become extinct.

'Brink'は何かの崖っぷちと言う意味です。つまり、ある動物が'brink of extinction'と言うことは、彼らが絶滅の危機に瀕していると言うことです。
