端から１cmって英語でなんて言うの？

裁縫のレシピにあった、「手袋の手首の端から１cmのところを一周なみ縫いをする。」を英語で言いたいのですが、どのように言えば良いでしょうか。

ちなみに、アメリカで「centimeter」と言いますが、オーストラリアなどで「centimetre」です。
