例(名詞): ----------------------- a pain a pain in the neck a pain in the rear a bother (too much) trouble a headache a drag an inconvenience ----------------------- 例(形容詞): ----------------------- bothersome troublesome tiresome tedious arduous ----------------------- ↑は単に一部の例であり、状況によっては様々な言い方が可能です。 ----------------------- Bill's having a party at his place tonight. Are you going? No, he lives so far away. It's too much of a bother, so I'll stay in. ----------------------- ----------------------- Did you start on your homework for summer vacation yet? No, too much of a pain. I'll just do it the last week. ----------------------- ----------------------- Don't you have to walk the dog? What a bother. The dog can wait until tomorrow. ----------------------- ----------------------- Can you get some McDonald's on the way home? It's too much trouble due to the detour. Mind Burger King instead? ----------------------- ----------------------- Jason became the new project manager. Darn. That guy's such a pain. ----------------------- ----------------------- We have to transfer 5 times. This trip is going to be a bit of a drag. ----------------------- ----------------------- Living so far from civilization can be tiresome. You have to drive for an hour just to get anywhere. -----------------------

  • I'm ok

「① I'm not up for it.」 また、「② I'm not feeling it.」

  • I'm not in the mood for〜.

この場合「気分じゃない」という理由で 「面倒臭い」というと仮定しますと ↓ I'm not in the mood for〜. I'm not in the mood for〜=〜の気分じゃない forの後に理由を述べます。 例えば 「出かける気分じゃない」 ↓ "I'm not in the mood for going out." go out =出かける for の後には 動詞➕ingもしくは 名詞が来ますので goにingをつけます。go➕ing=going また 「映画の気分じゃない」 ↓ "I'm not in the mood for movies." movies=映画 moviesはmovieの複数の形です。

  • I'll take a rain check?

"Do not feel like it" means you not really up for the idea maybe your body is not up for that activity. "I am not in the mood." means you are not in the mood for that activity. Maybe you just want to relax at home. Rain check means to make an arrangement to do a said activity at another time.
"Do not feel like it"とはアイディアに乗り気ではない、身体が行動に乗り気ではないという意味です。 "I am not in the mood."

  • I really was not up for the same old beer and pizza ... so I took a rain check

Some days, the same old -same old is not so appealing to us... We can take "a rain check" and drop out without hurting feelings..."A rain check" just means ...Not today! " but perhaps another day": "I took a rain check and ducked out of the party invite"
"A rain check"(参加しない) これは "Not today! but perhaps another day" (今日ではなくて、また別の日に)と言う意味になります。 "I took a rain check and ducked out of the party invite" (招待を断ってパーティーを避けた)

Otherwise engaged = a very vague explanation which gives no detail. You are doing something else. It is your business. End of story! My mum's visiting = this is for the situation where you feel you have to give a concrete reason (or basically lie). Not in the mood for socialising = This is the most honest answer. Nobody feel like doing something socially all the time. If it's a real friend they will appreciate your candour.
。(嘘なことが多いですね) Not in the mood for socialising = 正直な答え方です。

Your friend calls you to go out but you want to stay in. You can let them know with one of these three sentences. For example. Hey how are you? Good and you? Good. Do you want to do something tonight? Not really, I am going to stay in tonight, another time. Okay, no problem. I hope this helps. Have a great day. Will
