I am curious if I can join the class. は、文法的には通じますが、curious (好奇心が強い) の後に if を続けるのは、少し不自然に聞こえることがあります。
より自然な表現は、whether (〜かどうか) を使って、 I'm curious about whether I can join the class. 『その授業に参加できるかどうかについて興味があります（知りたいです）。』
このフレーズは、
I'm curious about: 「〜について好奇心がある」「〜を知りたい」という**関心（興味）**を伝えるのに適しています。
whether I can join: 「私が参加できるかどうか」という可能性の確認を明確に示します。
