また、「～しながらやってきた。」を使いたい場合、「～while」を使いましょう。
そうすると、「 According to a Japanese myth, one god came to the area while riding a deer.」になります。正直に「while」が無くても構いません。内容は影響ないです。
両方英文は自然で正しいので、どっちらでも使ってみてください。
