英訳1：「途中までは」は、正確なところがどこまでか言わずとも、少しはわかったということが伝わればよいので、some of it「いくらか」を使うと自然です。
英訳2：「わかる」は、understand 以外にも get で言えます。口語では、むしろこちらのほうをよく使います。
I could get about half of it. で「だいたい半分くらいはわかりました」。
I couldn't get all of it. は「全部はわかりませんでした」。
英訳3：「道に迷う」という時に使う get lost で「わからなくなる」という意味になります。相手の言っていることを聞いているうち理解を失うわけですから、道に迷うことに似ていますね。somewhere in the middle「どこか（話の）途中で」を添えるのもいいですね。

Understood is to understand.
This means that you on understand the 1st half of what the teacher said.

Saying its easy indicates that you could understand it perfectly.

This means that the 1st part you understand perfectly but not the last part.

これは、最初の部分は完璧に理解することが出来たけど、
最後の部分がよく分からなかったという意味になります。

The three sentences you see provided above are excellent ways to express to your teacher that you only understood the first part of what they said. In the first sentence you will see the word catch and in the third sentence you will see the word get. Although these words have different meanings in these sentences they mean to understand or comprehend.
I understood the first part, but not everything/ all of it
To understand something means you know what the person is talking about
So if you didn't understand everything that was said by the teacher you would say
'I understood some of it' although it is not very detailed so the person might not know what part you understood so to say 'I understood the first part, but not all of it' that explains what part you understood
understand'は、相手の話していることが分かるという意味です。
ですから、先生の言ったことに理解できなかった部分があったときには、'I understood some of it'（理解できたところもありました）と言うことが出来ます。ただ、これは少し漠然とした言い方なので、どこが分からなかったのか相手に伝わらないかもしれません。

When you want to ask your teacher to explain part of what they said because you understood some of it, and some not. Then you can explain it in the following ways:

聞き取れなかった部分について先生に説明してもらいたい時は、以下のように伝えられます：

You can say these phrases when you only understand a part of what you heard. You can be specific by repeating the part you understood. Then request, "Please repeat the last part," or "Please repeat the second part again because I did not understand." You can also ask, "Can you please say that last part again?"
