英訳1:「五十歩百歩」の英語バージョンがコレ。「一方の6つと、もう一方の半ダース」というのは、つまり「どちらも6つ」なので、「大差がない」ことを表しているんです。「距離」や「時間」の話をするときによく使われる言い回しです。 A: Is it quicker to take this road or that road? (この道を使ったほうが速い?それともあっちかなあ) B: It's six of one and half a dozen of the other. (どっちでもたいして変わらないよ) 英訳2(意味):ほとんど違いはないよ。 *hardly「ほとんど~ない」 英訳3(意味):ほんの少しの違いだよ。

six of one は「一方が持つ6つ」、 a dozen of the otherは「残りのもう一方が持つ半ダース=6つ」という意味になり、表現の仕方が違うだけで同じことを言っている状態を表します。 カジュアルな会話の中では"Same difference" 「大差ない」もよく使われます。
