などの表現も多く使われています。

A typhoon hit the city you live in. Were you able to stay safe?
この場合、次のような言い方ができますよ。
ーA typhoon passed through the area you live in. Were you okay?
「あなたの住んでいる地域を台風が通過しまたが、大丈夫でしたか？」
to pass through で「通過する」
ーA typhoon hit the city you live in. Were you able to stay safe?
「台風があなたの住んでいる街を直撃しましたが、無事でしたか？」
to hit で「襲う・命中する」
