ーEarthquakes can lead to other (natural) disasters.
「地震はその他の（自然）災害に繋がることがある」

ーEarthquakes are often times the beginning of other disasters.
「地震はその他の災害の始まりであることがよくある」＝「その他の災害に繋がることがよくある」
