「歴史的」が難しいですね。historic か historical か。
historic は『歴史的に重要な』、
historical は『歴史についての』という意味です。
historical は「重要かどうか」は問いません。
「歴史的選挙」と言うときには historic が適切だと思います。
ただ、どちらも区別なく使われることも多いので、historical を使っても意味は伝わります。

→歴史小説
I will totally accept the results of this great and historic presidential election -- if I win.
→私はこの歴史的な選挙の結果を完全に受け入れます、私が勝てば。

ちなみに"historical"「歴史に関する、歴史上の」ではなくて"historic" 「歴史的に重要な」なので気をつけてください。
