When something is said to be..."just as popular" as something else...they in fact share "comparable fame" or "have equal status".
The most usual /common phrase used in my experience...is "just as popular as..."
何かが他の何かと同じくらい人気があると言われている場合は、「同等の人気」を得ている、または「同等の位置」にいます。
私の経験からして最も一般的なフレーズは "just as popular as..."（…と同じくらい人気がある）です。
