  • Can I have just a little bit of rice, please

  • Just a little bit of rice is okay, thank you.

  • Can you decrease the amount of rice, please?

なので、 「Can I have just a little bit of rice, please」というのは、 「ご飯は少な目でお願いします。」 「Just a little bit of rice is okay, thank you.」 「Can you decrease the amount of rice, please?」

  • Just one spoon of rice for me please.

  • I just want a small portion of rice please.

  • I am not that hungry.please dish out just a little bit of rice for me please.

"Just one spoon of rice for me please." You are giving them a specific measurement of the amount of rice you prefer. That way if they ask why you want a portion smaller than usual you can explain your preference. I just want a small portion of rice please. portion =a part of a whole. This means you only one a little section of the amount of rice that has been prepared. I am not that hungry.please dish out just a little bit of rice for me please. You are explaining the reason for your preference in advance to avoid having to explain your choice at a later stage.

  • Could I have a small portion of rice please?

  • Just a child's portion of rice please!

  • Easy on the rice please!

Could I have/may I have...? - We use this construction when we want to ask for something, or for something to be prepared for us. 'May' is considered to be more polite and elegant than 'can.' "May I have a packet of salt and vinegar crisps and two pints of lager please?" Some restaurants offer child's portions or servings and these may be cheaper than a full size or adult portion, so it could be to your advantage to specify a child's serving if you consider that would be sufficient.
Could I have/may I have...? "May I have a packet of salt and vinegar crisps and two pints of lager please?"

  • A small portion/serving

  • I am on a diet. so I'd like a smaller portion of rice please...

We dish out food in portions and "portion control" is the secret to maintaining a healthy weight ratio in humans... We can always ask for "a smaller portion" and that would suggest... A "less than normal serving" in this case;_D "I am on a diet. so I'd like a smaller portion of rice please..."
"I am on a diet. so I'd like a smaller portion of rice please..."(ダイエット中なので、ご飯の量は少なめでお願いします。)

  • Just a little bit, please.

  • Just a spoonful, please.

A 'little bit' is explained as a small amount of something. A 'bit' is a piece of something, so in effect you are asking for a small piece of the whole amount of rice that has been cooked and is being served. We also say 'spoonful' to mean a small amount. It is not to be taken literally, so it does not mean just one spoon of rice. People that are very familiar with the English language, will know that you mean a small amount and are not literally asking for just one spoon of rice. If they put too little on your plate, you could always ask for a 'little bit more', and when enough has been put on your plate, you say "That's enough, thank you."
That's enough, thank you"(もう十分です。

  • I'm not that hungry, give me a small scoop of rice.

  • I will take less rice this time, thank you.

  • I only want half a spoon of rice.

If you are not that hungry, it is acceptable to ask for a smaller portion. If you are at a restaurant, inform the person taking the order that you want less rice or half of what is normally with the dish.
