I would rather say nothing than tell a lie. （「ウソをつくよりはむしろ何も言わないほうが良い」） という表現がありますが、この I would rather say... を使ってみたいと思います。 英訳１: I would rather say "No, I don't" than say yes to that question. (その質問にイエスというなら[肯定するなら]むしろ「やってません」と言いたい） 英訳2：I could say yes and no at the same time, but I would rather say no. (イエスともノーとも同時に言おうと思えば言えるけど、あえて言うならノーだ） ご参考になれば幸いです。
