common と typical の違い
「common」は単に良くあるという意味です。
「typical」は典型的な意味で、例としてよく使われるニュアンスがあります。
特別感がないって感じです。
でも日常会話では、あまり使い分けません。どちらでも自由に使ってください。

XX is a very common name in Japan. XXXは日本では平凡な名前です。

北米で典型的な名前を挙げて説明するとよい分かり易いと思います。

common=一般的、よくある
common senseは常識という意味で使います。
ですので、common name は良くある名前ということになります。

My name is very common in Ireland however it is uncommon in any other country. Although it is usually spelled ''Niamh'', ''Niabh'' has the same pronunciation.
