「有気音」は aspirated sound、「無気音」は unaspirated sound で言い表せます。 aspirate は「気音で発音する」という意味の動詞です。 英訳① distinguish between A and Bで、「AとBを見分ける」という意味になります。 indicate「示す」は、denoteとも言い替えられます。 英訳② tell には「~を言う」の他に、「~を見分ける」という意味もあります。 have a good ear で「耳がいい」という意味になります。 英訳③ 出だしは、①にbe able to ...「…できる」を追加して、「AとBを聞き分けられるということは」とやや強調している表現です。

  • You can easily hear the difference between aspirated and unaspirated consonants. You don't need a particularly good ear.
