You can also say that you hope to improve even more next time.
"Sounds good" means that he is pleased with the work and that it sounds like it is going well.

"Sounds good " leaves a slight doubt in the mind...IE it may be good. In this case one can respond with an assurance! Perhaps that it WILL be" better than good" in due course!
