  • I could feel the aftershock.

  • I felt the ground move beneath my feet.

aftershock- the final small quake after the earthquake to feel the ground moving- this is an exaggeration, of course you can't feel the ground moving, but this is one way to say that the quake was so powerful A. Did you feel the earthquake? B. Yes, it was insane. I could feel the ground moving beneath my feet, and it scared the heck out of me!
I felt the ground shaking 地面が揺れているのを感じた。 I could feel the aftershock. 余震を感じた。 I felt the ground move beneath my feet. A. Did you feel the earthquake? (地震感じた?) B. Yes, it was insane. I could feel the ground moving beneath my feet, and it scared the heck out of me! (うん、尋常じゃないね。足元の地面が揺れてるのを感じたよ、ホントに怖かったよ!)

  • I felt the the earth shake.

"The earth shook during the earthquake" describes the earth's movement during the earthquake. Likely, "The ground shook violently" also describes the ground's movement, which could be more specific as this also includes any ground, such as floors of a building, that you may have felt shake. "I felt the earth shake" describes your feeling of the earth moving.
"The earth shook during the earthquake" [地震](https://eikaiwa.dmm.com/uknow/questions/34221/)の間、[地面](https://eikaiwa.dmm.com/uknow/questions/55575/)が[揺れた](https://eikaiwa.dmm.com/uknow/questions/55011/)。 これは、地震の間の地面の揺れのことを言います。 "The ground shook violently" 地面が激しく揺れた。 これもまた、地面の動きを表し、建物の床のような、あなたが揺れを感じた地面のことを指すより具体的な言い方です。  "I felt the earth shake" 地面の揺れを感じた。 これは、あなたが地面の揺れを感じたことを表すフレーズです。

  • I felt the tremor just before the main earthquake struck and I hid under a table.

    play icon

The noun 'tremor' in this context means 'a slight earthquake (= sudden, violent movement of the earth’s surface.' Tremors do occur before, during and after the earthquake has happened. Tremors that occur after the earthquake has happened are called aftershocks. If a slight tremor happens before the main one, that is the time for one to protect oneself before the heavier tremors arrive. If one is indoors, it's better to hide under a table. So, you may say: I felt the tremor just before the main earthquake struck and I hid under a table.
I felt the tremor just before the main earthquake struck and I hid under a table. (メインの地震の前に微震を感じたので、テーブルの下に隠れた。)

  • I felt the earth move under my feet

  • When the ground moved, I thought I would be swallowed up!

I felt the earth move under my feet - 'I feel the earth move under my feet' is famous a song by Carol King, but these words may well be used when describing witnessing the effects of an eartquake. It is common in the UK to dramatise such phenomenon and here, you may talk about the ground moving and the idea you had that you would be engulfed and 'swallowed' in the shifting ground.
I felt the earth move under my feet. (足の下で揺れを感じた。) 'I feel the earth move under my feet'は、Carol Kingによる有名な歌の名前ですが、こちらの表現は地震を感じたときの表現でよく使われます。イギリスではそのような現象を劇的に表現したりしますので、地面が動くことや、揺れている地面に飲み込まれてしまうなんてことも話したりしてもいいですね。

  • The ground was shaking during the earthquake!

    play icon

  • I could feel a great tremor during the earthquake!

    play icon

If you want to explain what you felt during the earthquake, you could say "the ground was shaking." Shaking describes the movement caused by the quake, and it also denotes how powerful it was. In the second phrase, a "tremor" is a synonym, or word with the same meaning, for "shake" or "quake". Earthquakes are also known as earth tremors, so if you use the word tremor, the meaning is still clear. Using the word "great" to describe the tremor is an additional way to explain how powerful the earthquake was. You could substitute this adjective with a similar word such as "powerful."
地震を感じたことを伝えたいときは、 "the ground was shaking."と言うことができます。 Shakingとは揺れるという意味で、とても強かったかということも示します。 二つ目の例の、 "tremor" は、"shake" や "quake"の類義語です。地震は earth tremorsとしても知られています。ですので、tremorという言葉を使っても明確です。  地震の揺れがどれほど強かったかを表現するのに"great"という言葉を使うことができます。同じく強いという意味で"powerful."という言葉も使うことができます。
