  • The northern extremities of Japan are colder

  • The further north you go, the colder it gets

"the more...the more " = We use this construction when talking about the increasing effect of something due to progression,. "The higher you go, the cooler it gets." "The more clothes you wear, the hotter you will feel." "The less food you eat, the thinner you will become." Extremity = the furthermost point of something. "The extremities of the body are the first to feel the effects of the cold."
"the more...the more " = ... 例文 "The higher you go, the cooler it gets." "The more clothes you wear, the hotter you will feel." "The less food you eat, the thinner you will become." Extremity = 物事の最も遠い点 例文 "The extremities of the body are the first to feel the effects of the cold."

  • The Northern side of Japan is the colder side.

  • The more you go North, the colder it gets.

▪ The Northern side of Japan is the colder side. "northern side" is the North of Japan. This means that the towns/cities in North Japan are colder than the southern, Western or eastern ▪ The more you go North, the colder it gets. This indicates that the more you go to the north side of Japan it gets colder.
例文 ▪ The Northern side of Japan is the colder side. 例文 ▪ The more you go North, the colder it gets.

  • as you go north it get colder....

  • Japan is quite temperate...but as you go north it get colder!

Japan has a good selection of seasons and the chages are easily seen... Generally temperate there is still some severe weather in the northern regions like Hokkaido and the Tohoku. "Japan is quite temperate, but as you go north it gets colder!"
例文: "Japan is quite temperate, but as you go north it gets colder!"

  • The farther north you go, the colder it gets.

  • The climate is usually cooler the farther north you go.

  • It's cooler north of here (there).

The first two are general statements. The third could be used when referring to a specific place. The preposition "farther" is generally used for physical distances as opposed to "further" which generally is used for figurative distances. "Usually" means that there can be some exceptions.

  • The farther north you go, the colder it gets in Japan.

Farther is used to talk about physical distance (if it is metaphorical distance then we use further). 'The farther north' simply means 'the more north'. I would only add 'in Japan' if it wasn't clear from the context and the conversation that you are talking about Japan.
'The farther north' はシンプルに 'the more north'(より北に)という意味です。

  • It's colder in the Northern part of the region.

  • The climate changes as you travel north, so you will experience cooler weather.

I region is a way of describing an area. In this case, it would represent a geographical area. The region referred to is likely higher than the Southern area, and that explains the temperatures being colder. Climate is the average of the measurements of temperature, wind, and other patterns related to weather over a period of time. The statement indicates that traveling north will result in experiencing changes in these weather patterns, and experiencing cold weather is more likely.

To explain that it becomes colder the more North you go, you can say: "It gets colder the farther North you go in Japan." "The temperature becomes colder as you go North in Japan."
