背景って英語でなんて言うの？

「写真の背景」は the context of the photoやthe background of the photoです。Contextとbackgroundはだいたい同じ意味ですが、context は幅広い意味があります。例えば、context of the photo にはカメラ、景色、場所、時間、被写体、自分と被写体の関係等々も含みます。

   「写真の背景」と言いたいときは、「the background of the photo」・「the photo's background」と言えます。

2. against
   「〜の背景に〜が見える」などの表現は、「〜 is/can be seen against 〜」と言えます。

例文:
▸ 青空を背景に富士山がくっきり見える
Mt. Fuji is seen clearly against the blue sky.
