一般的に 話していると Trashの方が使われます。 カジュアルな言い方や基本的にゴミを[捨てる](https://eikaiwa.dmm.com/uknow/questions/32626/)などの表現はTrash で伝えることができます。 ただ、ゴミをひとまとめにして、指定の場所に捨てるなどの場合、 Garbage が伝われます。 [ゴミ袋](https://eikaiwa.dmm.com/uknow/questions/58780/)など、ゴミの集合体のようなイメージをもっていただくと良いですね 例: Put the trash in this bin. ゴミはこのゴミ箱に入れてください。 Could you take out the garbage? ゴミを出しておいてくれますか?

The above words are all names for the things that are thrown away by people from their homes. In these days of being environmentally conscious, people may also refer to throwing away 'recyclables' and 'non-recyclables.' Rubbish thrown in the street is known as 'litter'. This word is both a noun and a verb. "Have you put the recyclables in the dustbin yet?
上記の単語は全て家から捨てられるものの名前です。 最近では、環境面から、人々は "recyclables"(リサイクルできる)と "Non-recyclables"(リサイクルできない)を分けて捨てます。 道端に捨てられたゴミは、"litter"と呼ばれます。 この単語は名詞としても動詞としても使えます。 "Have you put the recyclables in the dustbin yet?" (ゴミ箱にリサイクルできるものを捨てましたか?)

Although garbage and trash are perfectly suitable in American English, they are rarely used naturally in British English. The most common term in Britain is "rubbish" used for household waste etc. "Junk" refers to any item deemed useless subjectively by the speaker and denotes it should be thrown away. "Scrap" refers to the useless excess of metals, materials, paper, and other resources, to be thrown away or used in other projects by someone else. This is also a subjective term

「ゴミを捨てる」の「捨てる」は「to throw out」または「to throw away」です。 Throw out the trash before you leave for the day. 帰る前、ゴミを捨ててください。 Please throw away your garbage once you are finished. 終わったら、ゴミを捨ててください。 「ゴミを出す」は「to take out the trash/garbage」と言います。 After dinner, please take out the garbage. 晩御飯食べた後、ゴミを出してください。 Could you take the trash out for me? ゴミを出してくれない? 「Refuse」という単語もあります。 アクセントを第一音節において発音すると、「REfuse」、「断る」という意味になりますが、第二音節において発音すると「reFUSE」になって、「廃物」、「ゴミ」という意味になります。 Please collect any refuse that you see and put it in a garbage can. 周りにゴミがあれば集めてゴミ箱に捨ててください。

"Garbage" or "Waste" is basically waste material that we throw away. There are multiple words used around the world in English that represent this waste. Another word is "trash" which you can normally hear this word in American English. You can use this word in a sentence by saying "Can you please throw out the garbage/trash/rubbish after dinner?.
