A wish is a way of expressing something that you really want or hope for even though it is unlikely that you will get it or happen. When you see a shooting star, you can make a wish and say "I wish I could win the lottery so I can be a multi-millionaire."
wish(願い)というのは、たとえ実現が難しそうであってもあなたがどうしても欲しい/願う何かを表現する方法ですよね。もし流れ星を見たら、"I wish I could win the lottery so I can be a multi-millionaire"(宝くじが当たって大金持ちになれますように!)と願い事をしましょう。
When you wish upon a star...it makes no difference who you are, (Pinnochio)
We "make wishes" in order to focus our mind and the universes' attention on
something, that we really, really want.... "oh I wish I had a girl friend"
It has long been thought that "wishing on a star", might even "boost" or chances of our wishes coming true...PS there is no scientific basis for this;-D
A wish is to feel or express a strong desire or hope for something that cannot or probably will not happen. In the UK people traditionally make wishes when they:
- Blow out the candles on a birthday cake
- Cut the first piece of a birthday cake
- Throw a coin into a water fountain
- See a shooting star in the sky
"wish"は実際には叶いにくいことをを強く願ったり、希望したりすることです。イギリスでは、

- Cut the first piece of a birthday cake(誕生日ケーキの最初の一切れを切る時)
- Throw a coin into a water fountain(噴水にコインをなげいれる時)
- See a shooting star in the sky(流星を見た時)
などにお願いごとをします。
