when I first ~ で「〜した（する）当初」という言い方ができます。
例文２「ペットの世話は最初は楽しいが、そのうち面倒になる。」
at first「最初は・はじめは」を使って表すこともできます。
例文３「自転車を買ってすぐは、しょっ中乗ったが、すぐに乗らなくなった。」
Right after ~ 「〜してすぐ・〜の直後」 を使っても言うことができます。
どれも「〜した（する）最初だけ」のニュアンスを含んでいる言い方です。

「〜した・〜の最初だけ」はonly the first while... を使って表現できます。
例：

「結婚した最初だけ楽しかった」

「息子は犬を飼った最初だけ世話をした」＝「最初だけしか世話をしなかった」
