"Browsing" - Just looking at things in a shop or through a window. "I don't need any help. I am just browsing." "Mary is browsing the clearance section." "Window shopping" - when you are just looking at things without planning to buy anything. "In the winter I like to go window shopping with a cup of hot cocoa." "I don't need any help. I am just window shopping."
店員から話しかけられて、 「I don't need any help. I am just browsing.」 「Mary is browsing the clearance section.」 「In the winter I like to go window shopping with a cup of hot cocoa.」 「Do you wan to go window shopping later?」 店員から話しかけられて、 「I don't need any help. I am just window shopping.」

If you're going shopping but are unable to buy anything you might say to your friend, "I'm just going window shopping". When a shop assistant speaks to you, you could say, "I'm just looking thanks".

A. "Window shopping" is a way to express the action of going shopping, with no intention of purchasing anything. However, you would not usually use this phrase if a shop clerk approaches you in a store. See eg.3. eg. 1 You: I'm going to go window shopping today. You wanna come? Friend: Sure! eg. 2 "We went window shopping this afternoon." eg. 3 Don't do this: Shop Clerk: Hi there, is there anything i can help you with? You: I am window shopping. Even though you are, it's more acceptable to say something like: "I'm just browsing", "I'm just looking at the moment" or "I'm ok, thank you" B. "Browsing" is another way of saying window shopping, but the usage can be slightly different. You can use browsing in a defensive manner if someone might accuse you of shopping too frequently or to be more vague with shop clerks. eg.4 Friend: You went shopping again today? We just went shopping yesterday! How do you afford it! You: I was just browsing./ I just had a browse. (This means that you just looked, and didn't buy anything.) C. "Having a look" can also be used. If you are in a store and you have not yet decided on your final purchase/ you are still deciding you can say "i'm still looking". Or can replace window shopping.. See examples below. eg.5 Shop clerk: Is there anything i can help you with? You: I'm just looking/ I'm just having a look around. eg.6 You: I'm just going to have a look around the shops. Be back in an hour.
1: You: I'm going to go window shopping today. You wanna come? Friend: Sure! 2: We went window shopping this afternoon. Shop Clerk: Hi there, is there anything I can help you with? You: I am window shopping. I'm just browsing"、"I'm just looking at the moment"、または"I'm ok, thank you"などと言った方がいいです。 4: Friend: You went shopping again today? We just went shopping yesterday! How do you afford it! You: I was just browsing./ I just had a browse. eg.5 Shop clerk: Is there anything I can help you with? You: I'm just looking/ I'm just having a look around. eg.6 You: I'm just going to have a look around the shops. Be back in an hour.

"Window shopping" This is the term used for when you are shopping but only looking at what all is in the windows and not actually buy anything. Eg; I went to the mall today but only ended up window shopping. Eg: We went window shopping because I didn't have money to spend.
I went to the mall today but only ended up window shopping. We went window shopping because I didn't have money to spend.

Window shopping implies you are just looking in shop windows, not entering the store. However, we use this term to explain that you are looking around a store and not buying anything, either by choice or not! Just looking is a common way to say that you are not seeking to buy anything, you just want to look. This is often said to sales assistants when they ask if you need any help. Browsing for fun also explains that you are looking around for fun or inspiration, not to buy!

Most people like to budget for what they would like to buy at the month end when they get paid. To do this, they go to the shops to look at the current prices of the items they would like to buy, especially if it's items of clothing or home appliances. These items are usually displayed inside the windows and can be viewed from outside. The prospective shoppers then go from window to window, noting down the prices of the items that they like, with no intention of buying at that moment in time. This is called 'window shopping'. So, you may say: Let's go window shopping so we can know what to buy at the month end. or She likes to do window shopping but doesn't buy.
Let's go window shopping so we can know what to buy at the month end. She likes to do window shopping but doesn't buy.

The act of looking at clothes/items on a display window of a shop, then that is called "window shopping". The phrase window shopping is also sometimes used to talk about walking into a shop just to browse and look at the clothes. -I like window shopping because it gives me an opportunity to look at what I want while I save money to buy it.
