1) chose instinctively「直観的に決断した」chose logically「論理的に決断した」

The decision I chose instinctively was wrong, and the decision I chose logically was too suffocating to stick with.
「直観的に導いた決断は間違っていたし、論理的に決断したのは続けるには息苦し過ぎた。」

2) trusted my gut feeling 「自分の勘を信じた」followed logic「理屈通りにした」

When I trusted my gut feeling, the decision was wrong. However, when I followed logic, the decision was too suffocating to stick with.
「自分の勘を信じたら、決断は間違っていた。でも、論理的に導いたら、その決断は息苦しすぎて続かなかった。」

stick with...「…のそばにいる」つまり、「…を続ける・従う」
suffocating 「息苦しい」の代わりに、stressful「（精神的に）疲れやすい」や、 difficult「難しい」などの形容詞にしてもナチュラルです。
