  • Tofu doesn't have much taste/flavor itself.

「味」はtasteやflavorという単語で表すことができます。 Tofu doesn't have much taste/flavor itself. 「豆腐はそれ自体にはあまり味がありません」 tasteは「~な味がする」という意味の動詞としても使うことができます。 Tofu tastes like nothing. 「豆腐はまるで味がありません」 ※taste(s) like~「~なような味がする」 ※taste(s) like nothing「何もないような味がする」→「味がしない」 ご参考になれば幸いです。

  • Tofu is pretty tastless

  • Tofu doesn't really have any taste

When asked "What does tofu taste like?" you want to say that tofu itself doesn't really have much of a taste. You use one of the above example statements and your views are clearly conveyed!
豆腐がどんな味か聞かれ、「豆腐自体にはあまり味はない」と答えたいということですね。上記どちらの文を使ってもそれについて明確に伝えることができます。

  • Tofu on it's own is basically tasteless.

  • Tofu is basically insipid but it complements other tasty ingredients in a dish.

The adjective 'tasteless' used in the first statement means 'lacking flavour' or 'having no taste'. The adverb 'basically' actually means, in this context, 'predominantly' or 'fundamentally'. So, on it's own, it does not have any noticeable flavour. It is 'insipid'. The adjective 'insipid', in this context, means 'lacking flavour' or taste. In a dish, it sort of complements other ingredients which give the dish its taste. So, if somebody asks you what Tofu tastes like, you may reply as follows: Tofu on it's own is basically tasteless. or Tofu is basically insipid but it complements other tasty ingredients in a dish.
一つ目の例で使われている形容詞の 'tasteless' は「味がない」という意味です。 副詞の 'basically' はここでは 'predominantly'(主に)または 'fundamentally'(根本的に)という意味です。ですから、「それだけではほとんど味がない」ということです。 形容詞の 'insipid' はここでは「味がない」という意味です。 料理においては、豆腐は他の食材を引き立てる役割をします(例2)。 ですから、豆腐の味について聞かれたときには次のように言えます。 Tofu on it's own is basically tasteless.(豆腐自体には味はありません) Tofu is basically insipid but it complements other tasty ingredients in a dish. (豆腐は基本的に味はありませんが、料理において他の食材を引き立てる役割をします)

  • Tofu doesn't have much flavor.

  • Tofu is bland.

The two sentences you see provided above are excellent ways to express to your listener that tofu does not have a particular flavor or taste. In the second sentence you will see the word bland. This means flavorless or tasteless. This is a word that we use a lot when describing food that is tasteless, it would make a great addition to your vocabulary.
上記二つの例文は、「豆腐には味があまりない」のすごく良い言い方です。 二つ目の文では、'bland' という単語が使われています。'bland' は「味がない/風味がない」という意味です。これは味がない食べ物を表すときによく使われます。ぜひ語彙に加えておいてください。
