マグニチュードが大きい（小さい）って英語でなんて言うの？

英語では「big magnitude」ではなく「high magnitude」です。 「震度（の数字）が大きいからと言ってマグニチュード（の数字）も大きいとは限らない」 "You can't say that an earthquake with a high intensity level will also have a high magnitude." 「昨日の地震はマグニチュードは大きかったけど震源が深かったので震度は概ね小さかった」 "The magnitude of yesterday's quake was high, but the hypocenter was deep in the ground, so the intensity, for the most part, wasn't so high." （「概ね」とは「for the most part」にしました。「by and large」「generally」「on the whole」という英訳もあります。）
