だんだん苦手になってきてしまったって英語でなんて言うの？

学生の時、英語の授業を始めたばかりのころ最初は授業が好きだったのですが学年が進むにつれ内容が難しくなり、それからだんだん英語の授業が苦手になってしまいました。そのことをお話ししたいです
「The lesson was getting more and more difficult,since then I wasn't good at English」でしょうか？よろしくお願いいたします

また、このシチュエーションを説明したいなら、そうすると「In the beginning of the school year I enjoyed the English lessons, however as the school year went on, the lessons became more difficult. Due to that English lessons ended up becoming more difficult over time.」という風に言えます。
