もし、[計算](https://eikaiwa.dmm.com/uknow/questions/41506/)しながら考えた結果「想定」するときは「Estimate」が有効かと思います。
以下の例文をご参考にしてください：

「I suppose it's going to rain tomorrow」「[明日は雨が降りそうです](https://eikaiwa.dmm.com/uknow/questions/1133/)」文字通りに「明日雨が降るのを想定している。」
「I could never have guessed anything like that」[そのようなこと](https://eikaiwa.dmm.com/uknow/questions/111819/)は想定できなかった。
トピ主さんの仰る「想定する」は事前に物事がどのように動くのかを考えて、それに備える、ということだと思います。
ですので、think ahead やthink forward がてきしている適していると思います。

参考にしてください
「想定する」は英語で suppose 又は assume と言います。Suppose と assume はだいたい同じニュアンスです。
「○○を想定して、、、」は英語で supposing that / suppose that / assuming that などのパターンで使います。

震度7の地震が起きたことを想定して、、、
