ゴールデンウィークは欧米にはない休日です。
欧米の文化にない概念はだいたい、そのまま言っても大丈夫です。
料理はだいたいそうです。素材をそのまま英語で言うと、魅力がなくなります。
お寿司＝sushi
Raw fish with vinegared rice (あまり美味しくなさそう）
刺身＝sashimi
Slices of raw fish (あまり美味しくなさそう）
ラーメン= ramen
Chinese noodles in a soup (あまり美味しくなさそう）
でもきっと、相手はわかりませんので後で説明しなければいけません。
このことはYudaiさんの英語力の問題ではなく、相手はその概念がわからないという問題です。
ネイティブ同士でさえその問題がよくあります。
例えば、僕の弁護士の姉はいつも弁護士が使う専門用語を使うのですが、僕は意味が全くわからなくて意味を説明してもらわないといけません。

In the UK we refer to designated days when most businesses and government departments close as being 'Bank Holidays' or 'public holidays.
'"Golden Week:" Many Japanese workers get about a week off around the end of April and beginning of May. This is because there is cluster of national holidays during this time. The "week" starts on April 29, a national holiday that used to be celebrated as the birthday of Emperor Showa, who passed away in 1989.
However, if you are in Japan and speaking English, you should continue to refer to it as 'Golden Week' as it is the visitor's responsibility to be aware, or be made aware of the significance of this holiday :-)
